Area Law Enforcement
Around fifty cars have been smeared with what appears to be blood from a person in the German municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Vehicles, building surfaces and postboxes were defaced, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they stated in a statement.
Law enforcement state they were notified late on Wednesday evening, when a man observed that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish substance.
The fluid had been drawn in the shape of a banned symbol, they stated.
Law enforcement then located numerous other smeared automobiles and residential walls in the surrounding area.
Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under laws banning the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement say early analysis show the liquid was probably blood from a person.
"There is still no lead as to its origin; officials are currently not cognizant of any harm in connection with the event," they stated.
Local authorities said they were working "to resolve the case" and have requested to the residents for information.
An important political figure commented the attack rendered him without words and needed to be resolved rapidly.
"This act affects the very heart of Hanau and revives the wounds of the right-wing attack in 2020," he wrote on social media, mentioning the murder of nine victims by a gunman focusing on people of immigrant origin in 2020.
