Critical Role Season Four Reveals the Soldiers Group

Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a wide array of characters, and a thrilling plot showcasing divine entities, demons, and malevolent powers growing in influence within the city.

Heads-up: Spoilers for Episode 3 of the new season follow below.

The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed

Episode 3 ended with a major cliffhanger and introduced the premier party of characters who will split off from the main group to embark on their separate journey, separate from the additional parties.

This warrior group consists of Teor Pridesire (portrayed by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (Laura), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), Wicander (the player), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).

Dividing the Cast

Given 13 cast members, it was obvious from the start that keeping everyone at one table would be impossible.

Hence, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Introduction, weaving together the individual narratives before dividing into three smaller tables: Fighters, Planners, and Questers.

Characteristics of the Combat Party

Per the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for players who enjoy a typically action-packed fight-heavy narrative style where diplomatic options are scarce.

Initially, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander might look mismatched, but the developments of episode 3 make it clear why these particular heroes are best suited for the Soldiers table.

Why They Must Go

To begin with, the group understands precisely where to proceed after a brutal first encounter with The Crow Keepers.

Casimir of the deceased character—whose passing started the narrative’s action—used the enemy for his selfish purposes, invading the hidden lair, striking Thimble, and swiping all the powerful objects to dispose of.

Casimir then settled his obligations and ran away to a secure base in the northern region, above the urban center, with Teor’s brother close behind.

Individual Reasons

Secondly, each adventurer has a personal reason to exit the metropolitan area:

  • Thimble, as the close ally and best friend, wants revenge.
  • The adventurer is familiar with the northern area and cautions that it is a nasty place.
  • Tyranny and Wicander, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to execute Teor and instead freed him, have no other options.
  • Yet, their status as key figures in the influential clan could help the group reach places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Furthermore, The fighter swore a eternal obligation to The savior for his deliverance and will now go with him everywhere.

Wanted and Hunted

Lastly, all of them are wanted by the authorities that control the setting for a multiple motives, making staying in the city too risky:

  • The rogue and The hero are known criminals.
  • Tyranny and The cleric betrayed the powerful family and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
  • The fighter is targeted for elimination by the clan.

This leaves them little choice but to travel to the northern region in pursuit of Casimir.

Upcoming Developments

Based on the recent installment’s Cooldown, we discover that the warrior group will not appear next week, leaving the other eight participants to round up the Explorers and Strategists parties.

Viewers can anticipate learning which players will be in which group in the season’s last Overture episode, released on October 24.
